The Ethics Committee of the Hospital District of Southwest Finland assesses the ethics of healthcare science research projects.
The Ethics Committee for Human Sciences
The Ethics Committee for Human Sciences at the University of Turku issues ethical review statements on the ethics of non-medical research conducted on human subjects. In addition, the committee initiates and upholds discussion on research ethics in the university, and acts as on expert body in problematical situations concerning research ethics, apart from alleged violations of responsible conduct of research.
Research etchics board and committee at Åbo Akademi
Åbo Akadeami University has two processes for supporting credible and ethical conduct of research. The first process concerns preventive measures, in which every individual researcher, project manager, research leader and head of subject carries his or her responsibility for research ethics. The second process involves dealing with allegations or misconduct. These cases are handled in cooperation with the Finnish National Board on Research Integrity (TENK).
Research Ethics Committee of Turku UAS
The Research Ethics Committee of Turku University of Applied Sciences is responsible for organising an ethical ex ante evaluation of non-medical research in human sciences for the university’s research projects. In exceptional cases, an ex ante evaluation may also be carried out on project partners if the partner does not have an ex ante evaluation process at its disposal.

Open Access Guide
This guide focuses on Open Access (OA) resources that anyone can find and use online. Here you can find information on health and technological sciences and links to various OA materials (books, articles, reports, evidence based practice materials, etc.). The Health Campus Turku Guide on health and technological sciences has been created by Turku University Library, Turku University of Applied Sciences Library and Åbo Akademi University Library.
OpenIRIS
OpenIRIS, a system co-developed by several European research institutes, has been chosen to serve as the University’s database of research equipment. The system also has features to support sharing, such as reservation calendars and the possibility to determine prices for use hours, which are in use with serveral resources.
Research.fi
Research.fi is a service offered by the Ministry of Education and Culture that collects and shares information on research conducted in Finland. The service improves the location of information and experts on research and increases the visibility and societal impact of Finnish research.
The service was launched in June 2020 and will be developed in phases.
